Hello I have been looking for a lp tractor to use I have been looking for a G1000 seen a few on CL but have been to late when I have called , I found a 950 lp how much fuel will a lp take, pulling round baler, hauling manure, ect. is lp cheaper in the long run with gas cheaper then it has been in a while would I be better off with a gas ?? How much smaller is a 950 then a 1000. LPG here was 1.80 $ for house fuel on Jan 11 th, farm use should be cheaper . Thanks Bryan

In a short explanation the G950 has a 425 cui LP gas engine. The 950 diesels had a 451cui engine in them.

Then g1000 had both a 504 lp and diesel engine.

With a properly tuned lp tractor it takes about 1.1-1.4 gallons of propane burnt to get the equivalent horsepower of 1 gallon of diesel fuel.

I have a 930 Case propane that used 70 gallons of propane to plant 50 Acres of corn. A diesel would have used about 30 gallons of diesel. Love the propane tractor but is not easy on fuel.

You don't want gas in a tractor that size!!! A 4010 JD, 806 IH, & a G900 MM were the worst gas hogs on the planet. I didn't check my books but I don't think MM offered the 950 in gas. I think by that time they were discontinued.
Depends on the size of the baler. Roughly a 950 was 90HP and G1000 was 110HP

I agree with the guys on here. Either one is going to be thirsty to say the least. I have an 830 Case LP and pull a New Holland 273 square baler with it. The 830 handles it very well, but you are only going to bale about 8 hours at best before having to run home to the nurse tank. I like LP tractors for yard work but the bad part about doing any field work away from home is having to run them home after a few hours of work to fill them up. Tractor Data says that the G950 will burn 10 gallons of lp an hour under a full load...

When these lp tractors were really used, many had an auxiliary tank on the front........ because they used lots of fuel. My grandfathers G1000 lp was the same way.

I remember my dad said the 730 Case Case-O-Matic gas that he had one time took a lot. He said you could cultivate in the afternoon from about 1:00 till chores time and have to come home to fill up again. When gas was real cheap compared to now it probably wasn't so bad but that is a lot of fuel. He traded the 730 on a GTB and then got a Case 830 diesel. The GTB took fuel but they were bigger horses than the 730. The 830 diesel was excellent on fuel.

I believe my post was misconstrued. I was talking about gasoline, as I belive that is what herk was asking. Personaly I think the difference between Lp and diesel, due to the difference in price of fuel. maintenace, starting, and repairs herk woul be better off with LP.

I had a 4010 LP a long time ago. Rig up a short hose for a camper bottle. Turn it upside down on top of your tractor tank. Screw in your vaper purge valve and the lp will just fill in a couple of minutes. You do fill camper bottles from your tank at home? LP is 1/2 of diesel now. Can't use twice as much. Vic
