My 61 jet star does not have a pto. it does have a round plate where the pto should be. i think this tractor is referred to as an "industrial". is it possible to add a pto to this tractor?

I think it can be done, Lots of work though:

I think the case is machined for the lower shaft, but you will need the pto clutch, clutch lever, lower shaft, shaft seal, and all the related parts. You may even need the long upper shaft, The best I remember, the shaft on my Big MO 400 without pto did not have the area machined for the pto clutch. You will probably have to pull the 3 point and remove the cover to see what is in there and what is missing.

What you probably need is a transmission from a junk tractor. Be sure its like yours, they changed to a different hydraulic pump that was plumbed externally in 1961 or 1962 and I don't know what the interchangability is.

If you pull the 3 point, you need the rubber donut and o-rings on hand that join the hydraulic passages to the transmission case. The old ones will probably leak if you re-use them.

I should add that a parts book for your tractor and a service manual will be a great help if you try this.

Yes it is possible. You will need to get all of the parts from a Jet Star since they use a shorter transmission housing than the 445 4 Star etc. I don't have anything for that model. You could try Clint Stamm in Washington KS.
