M5 3 pt. hitch fade

I may have asked this before. I'd love to plow with my M5 and semi-mounted plow BUT, while plowing I must periodically lift the plow a bit as it tends to go deeper as I go. The hitch is slowly falling. I have the tractor in the shop now and ready to go after the problem. If I knew exactly what I was going after, that would be most helpful.

I'm assuming you have a guick hitch on it that makes the draft work. I don't know if the draft levers will help adjust it sounds like it might be leaking past the lift piston.

I was thinking a leak at the piston as well or possibly the valves are out of sync and need to be adjusted. I have an M5 that does that when I use the mower (just lower arms). I have to constantly raise it up as it leaks down.

Not familiar with that option Del. I have the typical Tel-O-Flow as near as I can tell. One lever for the 3 pt., 2 auxiliaries, the usual drop speed and cycle controls under the seat (levers broke off of course).

Are all 3 levers (2 outlets and 3pt) straight across from each other? What I have found on a few models is if the 3pt lever is not, usually slightly to the back, the valves in the block are out of adjustment.

All the later tractors have it as standard. But it was a dealer installed package for older tel-O-flow. If you look at a late 602 or 670 you will see extra piping and a small lever with a small round knob forward of the other three point levers closer to the platform. I would send you a picture, but my printer is down. With the original system you never could control the depth of the plow. The draft button would raise it in a tough spot then it would either ride shallow or go 14 inches deep. Especialy if there was a plow sole in the field. With the pakage you could set the depth lever to a maximum depth it could go, and then adjust the cycle on the three point to field conditions. This should have been available 10 years sooner. There would have been a lot less MM tractors traded off. Also a gauge wheel on the plow is a must. I have two NOS kits left, but they have been damaged by moisture. Also have all the instructions.

Sure don't have that, Del and I sure agree with your comments on depth control. My 900 has closed center and position control. I don't like hitch systems without it but I will learn to work with it. Sounds like my best bet is to go after the piston and then test that. If I still drift down, I'll have to go after something else in there.
