U302 Water Pump Problem.

A friend of mine has his tractor in my shop (warmer in there) changing out water pump thinking it was leaking but and I have never had one of these apart but it appears the O-Ring between the block and water pump going to put in a new O-Ring in for sure and have the new pump so also going with it but should a person put silicon around this O-Ring and help thanks.

I guess I should have been a clearer it is the pipe that comes out of the block and goes into the back of the large plate that the water pump bolts too it that helps any.

I believe the answer is no. However, I would examine the condition of that pipe. If the pipe has pitting where the o-ring is going to ride it, you may want to fill those pits in with maybe some p-tex #2. Expect it to leak a little, it will seal up in a short amount of running time.

Curt thanks for the reply can that p-tex #2 be bought at any auto parts store I have never heard of it.

I second the number 2 permatex. Gets used every time I install a 10A5956 o-ring.
