I've found a set of 4 row cultivators from a man that are on his model z and I would love to have a 4 row set for my model u...... My question is will the 4 row cultivators on his "z" fit on my "u" or is it hopeless?

The push bars that go to the rear axels have to be lengthened a little. Not a big job, I have done several. Seems to me that the two support rods that go to the frt. " A frame ", { in frt. of the grill } need to be a little longer. These cultivators are very adaptable. I have had them on a 5 star and a J D 70 Diesel . All worked great.clint

What Clint says is right. You also have to lengthen
the push pipes that raise and lower the gangs. Also the front A frame is different. The one for the U is much wider.
I have serveral cultivators to fit both Z and U

My Dad, who pasted away last July at 97, once mounted his MM 4 row cultivator from his 1949 UTU on his 1939 Graham Bradley. He was quite handy at making things work. Changed a ground drive David Bradley Spreader to PTO also. Miss his wisdom!!

I fit cultivators off a Z onto my R. Many of the parts are the same, differences are the parts that connect to the tractor.

The main difference with the U cultivator (CQ model if I remember correctly) was the braces to the rear axle were solid iron 1" x 3" or so and not square tubing like on the Z cultivators.

Sounds like it can be done then and good friend of mine is an iron worker and loves making ends meet with metal so he will enjoy working on it........ MMDEL are you interested in selling any of your cultivators for a U?? Feel free to private message me!

If you don't end up getting one from MMDEL, I do have one for a U that I would sell. My email is open.
