Did G1000 or Vista G1000 ever have a Narrow front axle

Hey guys I have a G1000 with a narrow front And was wondering if it was a factory option for these tractors? Also I thought a Vista would be different to have a Narrow front axle. Any information? Thanks!

Andy

Yes I believe they were available for the G1000 from the factory. Ive seen pictures on the G1000s that way but haven't on the G1000 Vista although I haven't checked the parts books on them. So much of the trend was towards the adjustable or standard fronts rather than the narrow fronts.

Yes, and they even offered a single front wheel. Here is a link to the early Vista ad from this site in vintage ads, if I'm doing it rite??? If not, go to it and it's about the 5th page in.

Back in the late 1960's-early 1970's most of the MM G-
1000,G-1050,G-1350 MM pullers ran narrow fronts..You
rarely ever saw a G-1000 ran in the field with a narrow front..

The last tractor pictured pulled the 15,000 Open Class in
Illinois and was farmed with at 440 horsepower..

Great pictures 1206, Thanks for posting them, some I have seen you post before, others I have not seen before. Do you know if any of these tractors are still alive and well?

They don't look too bad with a narrow front. It looks to be nimble and handy that way. Do they use something like 9 X 15" tires on the front?

here's a wheatland with a tricycle front. The front end from most MM's starting with the UB special could easily be swapped out. The ZA next to the G1000 takes a little longer to change the front end.

I'm thinking that most of those tractors still exist...The 2nd picture (Millard Dukemans G-1000 from Arthur,ILL) was only taken 3-4 years ago at a MM meet...I didnt take this picture but did take at least 4 of the others..

Two of those tractors are owned by Don Nolan in Illinois and I hear that he still has them..Another is owned by Charles DeClerck in Illinois and I hear that he still has it..

Dave Stangles Solid Junk is still around...I dont know about Gary Quicks G-1000 and Bill Newlons old G-1000..

Lots of these tractors ran out of Jennings Implement in Bement,Illinois....I went by there in 2009 and it was still in business..

I'd love to go back to 1969-70 and have a digital camera..Heres some more pictures of MM pullers and that isnt all of them..The last one ran out of Hawk Point,MO for years and is now down in Texas...You can see it on youtube

Heres a G-1000 MM puller on alky thats been around for close to 30 years...Its owned by the Hull family in Wisconsin..I took this picture at Tulsa,OK in 1987..In Sept 2014 I watched it scatter an engine at a PPL pull in Wheatland,MO.

Some of the G-1000 MM pullers that I dont have pictures for are Leon Atkins from Haxtun,CO,the Niesen families"Fooler" G-1000 from Lewistown,MO,and Greg Herriots from Illinois...

There were also 5-6 hard running G-705 MM's around in the old days of pulling plus several 5 Stars,M-5's,and 670's..

I never got to see the red Miss Fire 1 MM puller in person..I
think it was a G-1050 pulled by Charles DeClerck from
Illinois..I've heard that its still in his shed along with his
Power Without Smoke G-1000 MM ?

Another red MM puller in the old days was Myron Riddle
from Illinois...It was a G-1350 diesel and I dont have a
picture of it..

If anyone has MM pulling pictures from the olden days
please post them..MM's were hard runners and tough to
beat..

Thanks for the pics.......I'm guessing alot these guys are getting up there in years that have these tractors...I remember Lyle Hull pulling back in the mid to 60's at the local fair with a MM 5 star that he had on alcohol. It used to spit and sputter if everything wasn't just right with temperature and humidity, In my opinion Lyle was one of the very first to figure out how to pull with alcohol. It sure would be cool to see Declerk tractors in person. I remember seeing a few at recent MM feature show the last couple years maybe Cedar Falls Iowa. This year at Rice Lake WI show, Dean Zingre was selling reprints from a Farmfest pull in the 70's with Dave Stangle driving Solid Junk. Of course, I had to buy one to hang in the living room.

Several of the old MM pullers are already gone and most
that are left are in their 70's and 80's...Gary Quick would be
the youngest, maybe in his 60's..It would be great if they
could have a reunion and feature all the old MM pullers and
their tractors...If they had it at Bement, Illinois most
wouldnt have too far to come...Nolans and Dukemans MM's
have been at shows...Penfield,Illinois would be another
good place...

In the 1980's Charles DeClerk pulled a Allison powered
tractor called the Thunderbolt and it was at the Half
Century Of Progress show...I grabbed a picture of it..MM
puller Bill Newlon also had an Allison tractor and someone
recently restored it..It was on here..

Lyle Hull, the Connor brothers, and Brent Long got the alky
tractors to run right and make some power..

I took the top picture at Bethany,MO in 1971..It was Ron
Perry on his G-1000 MM...That was before Dave Stangle
started driving..

The 2nd picture I believe is Don Nolan at Louisville when
his tractor was legal for the 10 Pro Class..

The bottom picture is Millard Dukeman..

Great picture and information, I think I mentioned this before, but if you ever put a book together of all of your pictures and travels, it would sell well on this site, thanks again.

Andy, When I was in college, I had a 3 hr break between classes and spent an entire winter going through the Farm Journal and Successful Farming magazines from the start to the current on microfilm. if memory serves me correctly, MM was the only manufacturer that offered all front end options (standard WF, adjustable WF, single, and narrow front) on their larger machines up and over 100 hp. Again, if memory serves me correctly. It was the most enjoyable 3 hrs of my day during that winter.

This is really awesome guys! Would anyone happen to have a narrow front for a G1000 laying around they would consider selling? Thank you!
