Jetstar 3 Super, solenoid resistor wire.

I re-wired my 1968 Jet3 Super. There was a resistor wire running from the coil to the + "hot" side of the coil. I understand this is for easier starting. I don't have any type of external resistor nor does it ever appear to have had one. Now if this is a "internally resisted coil" what good is the resistive wire from the solenoid to the coil? I didn't pay attention when I routed the new wires and ran a "regular wire" rather than the cloth wire assumed to be a resistive wire from the "R" post on the solenoid to the coil.

What are the thought on this?

running either a resistor or resistor wire from the ign sw to the + side of coil & then a regular wire from the other small terminal on the solenoid (not the S terminal) direct to the + side of the coil sure helps them start better when it is cold or damp outside. It supplies full bat voltage to the coil during starting. If the resistor wire went from the solenoid to the coil, I would assume that someone didn't understand the purpose of having a wire there.
