Just purchased my first LP running g tractor, a 1952 utu!! Has liquid and vapor valves on the tank, which do I turn on when running????

Start and warm up on vapor then change to liquid. Will start much better (esp. when cold) on vapor. If you leave it running on vapor under load you may short the engine on fuel as the liquid LP in the tank won't vaporize fast enough. That is the reason you have a vaporizer to change the liquid into a vapor that the engine can run on. Turn off both and allow engine to die before turning off ignition. Welcome to the world of MM's on LP-The only way to go!!!

I run My Vista on vapor unless I'm working it

If you run it cold on liquid you will see the vaporizer freezing up. If you're not paying attention, you'll start to lose power and she'll die. Then you check the valves, swear under your breath, open the vapor and start over.....

LP is the only way to farm!

I used use oliver super 77 to spread manure in 10 degree temps. It had after market lp kit, vaporizer did not freeze up it has coolant running through it all the time when motor is running.

All LP systems have coolant running through them all the time. But some units are more prone to freezing than others. Like was said mfg co all recomend start on vapor after temp is up switch to liquid. I have tractors will run all day on vapor, had one you couldn't get across the field without turning on the liquid. have some you can start on liquid will freeze right up some never freeze. Have a 1355 forgot to turn on the liguid, took the valves out.

Been farming with LP since 1957

when I had the LP route the guys who had them used to park them out along the road. I would fill them up as I went by.

I find it bast and usually run on vapor --- unless as Dale said I am doing heavy work or at temps above about 80F. Definitely vapor at temps under 10 F and as most of the guys said ---start on vapor until warm and switch to liquid. I have also found that if it start to loose power (running out of fuel or up a steep
! hill with a low fuel tank), you can usually get back to the fuel "island" by switching to liquid. I have been farming with mostly propane --cuts the fuel costs dramatically --- for over 40 years and have both MM (M-5;
GB; G; etc. and IHC (560) and Case (930) propane tractors that I use constantly (over 25 years) and have never had major problems --they run cleaner and engines last LONGER --- in the end ---saving CASH which is important to most cattlemen.
