hooking up the steering on a reversed 2 star axle

I have reversed the axle on my MM 2 star but the steering column is too long now. Does anyone have any idea how to deal with this?

FYI: A 2 star is a MM crawler and has no front axle or steering column.

I am assuming you have a Jetstar 2: I also assume you mean the vertical shaft the tie rods attach to. (I think of the steering column as the area supporting the steering wheel itself.)

I can only tell you that when MM did that with the Big MO military tractors, they used special pivot points for the axle that spaced it forward approximately 1-1/2"

Then the plate the tie rods attach to is turned to the front and I don't know how they did that. I don't know if the keyway in the sector gear is 180 degrees off or if the keyseat in the sector shaft is 180 degrees off.

There is also someone trying to reverse their axle on a 602 over on the MM website.

I have the answer for that kelvin. They turned the whole housing housing 180 degrees and then pulled the steering sector gear off and turning it back.

If you look close at the housing you notice the axle turn radius stops is part of the casting. Mine on one side was broken on my jetstar allowing it to turn more then it was intended too and was hard on the tires and rims.

When I bought my Big Mo 400M it had an extra front axle and parts. So I swapped them out. Yes there is special axle brackets for switching the front axle around. But other then that that's all you need. ;)
