G900 propane at auction

What is the good, bad, and ugly on these? I have been watching for a big propane field tractor to play with. Would have liked a Case 930, but this is the first big propane I have seen close to home.

All the tin is there. Paint pretty good considering age. Oil pan is off, tank is off. Story was it had the water pump replaced, and they decided to do some other maintenance, then the owner dies...

What is it worth beyond scrap iron and tires?

Could be a valuable tractor, but it could be easy to sink $$$ into quickly. The later models had a closed center hydraulics. An 8-bolt front axle is desirable, and often sell for $800

It has an 8 bolt front axle.

I was kinda briefly looking at parts... I didn't see much out there. Figured since the pan was off might as well tear it down.

A LP G900 should be a 425 engine (4.250 bore), basically a "U" or "5 Star" with two extra cylinders. Cylinders from a 504 or 336 (4.625 bore) will fit that crankcase if you want to go bigger. Heads will interchange also.

I don't know what that particular unit might be worth, but I own both a G900 LP and a Case 930 CK on propane. I much prefer to run the Minnie. It is a much nicer driving and handling tractor than the Case. Both tractors handle my 15 foot brush hog, but the Case 930 is at it's limit in heavy brush cutting. The G900 handles the mower better, and is more enjoyable to drive. Fuel consumption is pretty close between the two. I also have a G900 diesel that I really like, but the propane tractors are cheaper to run when I figure the fuel cost per hour of operation.

Just got home. Only auction I was ever at where there was no loader to get stuff out of there. Big disaster. Lots of broken and busted stuff, with a few gems mixed in.

I bid on it, but let it go. Too many unknowns, I think it was stuck, I couldn't get the engine to spin over by hand. Someone will either be happy or have a money pit.

Not sure exactly, I think 4500... I had to turn and walk away at 3500 because I thought I would stick my hand up again. The trailer it was loaded on had Ohio tags.

A running G1355 brought 5.

That's insane!! A running one can be had for less than that!

That's not a bad price for the G1355, but wow, that 900 wasn't worth half of that in it's condition.
