I saw this red 950 and the owner says it's super rare, and a pilot model. I've never heard of a "pilot" 950. He says since it's not red, white and blue it is a very rare pilot model. I don't think he has quite the right info.

Was that the one that sold at Polks for $5100? Red G950 were never clearly documented like the G1050. It's unknown exactly how many were made. I've documented 4 and all were early 1970 models consistent with the red G1050 which were built in late 1969. I wouldn't call them Pilot models as the first units were yellow. The term pilot would be better used for the first Vistas and low band G1000 as the company made many changes to the production units after these were produced. The red G950 and G1050 were built to showcase the models and I think they all had 3 speeds but not positive on that. The company was in the midst of deciding on long term color changes and I suspect these were built to check the customer reaction.

Red, white and blue versions were not documented for any of the 50 series so its hard to say how rare they are. The ones I've documented were built in mid to late 1970 only. Of the 16 red/black or red/white/blue tractors I've documented the red/black seems to be more prevalent but statistically the sample size is too small to draw any conclusions.

BMG, the light bulb just clicked in my head!! It must be, because when I asked about the 900 in the background he didn't know anything about it and I remember seeing that 900 on the auction list. He is selling the 950 as a rare model of 8k.

G900

I bet it is kind of nice to be able to change the air filter from the tractor seat on the G950 lol. Interesting that the center hubs on the one G900 are red on the inside. Thank you for posting pictures.

Usually see them on late 1969 models also with the late fenders but did that one have the late fenders?

Yeah it did. The taper locks were sstandard at the same time as the idiot lights new gauges, fenders, closed center and external steering cylinder.
