G1000 coil wire

Just did a major overhaul on my Vista LP. Now it wants to burn the coil to distributor wire off when trying to start it. Purrs like a kitten when you do get it running but does seem to be charging to much at 50 amps. Did we hook something up wrong? Thanks for any ideas.

Is your coil possible an "externally resisted" coil?
