needing some help on fire

I have a 1945 R that I restored about 2 to 3 years ago. The girl has ran great, other day I got it out ran it around for a while and all was good. However I came back the next day and it would not start. I have no fire and I can't seem to figure out what is going on. Any help would be great Thanks.

If it is mag ignition, check the impulse spring, I had one break once acted just like your describing.

If it is the impulse spring, you will not hear the usual snap of the mag at low cranking speed, especially if you can turn the engine over by hand.

If distribuitor, check to see if you have voltage at the coil on the wire opposite that to the wire to the distribuitor. If you are running a ballast resistor to get 6v at the coil, it may have an open circuit now.

If its magneto, I had the distribuitor rotor shaft freeze in its bushing once in one and it stripped the fiber gear that ran off the main shaft through the magneto. That one ran fine into the shed and wouldn't start the next time I needed it.

It is distributor and every thing looks good on it so I'm now looking at coil. Should the voltage at the coil be 6 at the coil?
Thanks for the responses.

Can't tell on a distributor by looks.

Assuming a 6 volt system, you should have 6 volts at coil input with switch on.

Output of coil to distributor should be 6 volts with points open, 0 volts with points closed.

Take a folded up dollar bill and rub through closed points to remove tarnish.

A coil check: remove large coil wire at distributor end and hold it near (1/4") to grounded frame or engine. Turn on switch and take a wooden dowel or insulated tool and open and close points. Coil should kick a good healthy spark to ground. If so assume that coil is working.

I should have said that everything was intact I have cleaned the tarnish off the points I will test the voltage and the coil this evening again thanks for the help
