Oil pressure adjustment

In my jet star 3 I looked in the it manual to adjust the low oil pressure, it's running 14 to 18 psi, and my it manual says 25 to 30 at running temp, so I read up and found where the adjustment screw should be on the pump base, I go look at the tractor and it is not there, I'm wondering if it's an update cause we have a spin on filter base on it, the plug where it should be is there but the screw for adjusting isn't. There is just a plug and behind it is the reliefs valve

There is a pump listed for certain tractors with the 206 engine that do not have an oil pressure adjustment screw. It looks like they have a different spring than the adjustable pump. These tractors have the pumps listed a Group I and Group II. The Group I pump is adjustable. I don't know much else. I'm sure one of the resident experts will chime in.

Shouldn't be an issue as the Group I part number is the same as what's on the Jet Star 3. The AGCO Parts book lists the non-adjustable pump as a "repair replacement" for the adjustable pump.

The adjustable pump is what's listed as original for your tractor.

Looks to me like you pull the spring out and add a shim in the check valve. Then check your pressure. Will have to go to shop and check my 4 star and 302 book. chris

My books show the adjustment screw, other brands of tractor went from an adjusting screw type to just adding shims. Not handy but doable. Deere did it on the 4020s from early to late. chris

I would go back to basics. How many hours on motor? These tractors are at least 45 years old. Normal wear would lower your oil pressure. The only way to acheive proper oil pressure would be with new main bearing and rod bearings. Crankshaft would have to be in good condition also. I personally wouldn't worry about oil pressure on an old motor. As long as there is some and it doesn't drop off after warmup.

The hour meter hasn't worked in 37 years, according to my grandfather it stopped in 1977 on 3294.8 hours, where it still is today and it was a main tractor till 1988 so the hours are fairly high

Well the part number is 10A25329 for the shim. I would just pull the spring and find a regular washer the same diameter and thickness and just try it and see if it helps, if it doesn't then go back to what molinegb said. chris
