Started pulling my vista this year and in 2 pulls am getting my butt kicked bad ,getting last out of 10 tractors, It is turning 165 hp. It is bored 20 over and welters worked on the pump, and put on turbo, they say they cant get any more hp out of it . talking to other pullers and they say to send pump to people who work on pulling tractors, and to put on bigger injector lines. Will it stand 300 hp without doing damage to crank? And will ta take that much hp? I am pulling with Missouri farm pullers, and these guys get with it. HELP please

I think you need to go to a 585 to get close to keeping up. That 504 is not a direct injection head and won"t make a ton of power.

Myself I think you are asking for trouble expecting that much out of a Vista. Some of them had trouble with the 111 factory hp.

U have big head put on that rossamaster pump? Fairvalley performance .be good place to start on full system.can u run a or ppump? What weight class u pulling? Mine down 7200lbs.an can good go a little lighter.if i want..what size turbo ? U have?

In the late 60's we were working with a farmer from Minnesota with his G1000 LP tractor. Because it was a spark fired engine (504), we were not limited by the Lanova system of the diesel which seriously limited the rpm it could run. That system is great for low rpm and huge torque rise as they were known for.

This tractor used LP/alcohol combination along with a huge turbo. The engine would turn some scary rpm's but as long as the alcohol held up it ran great. I seem to recall it running well past 4000 rpm. Remember this was 40+ years ago, and he had an 8 mph speed limit. We did have to use double valve springs to prevent valve float.

Oh, by the way, he farmed with this tractor the year around, just never went past 2200 rpm or so, and did not use any acohol.

My cousin has a G1000 with a p-pump and much bigger turbo. Probably making about 250-300 hp. He has pulled it for about 6 years and hooked it about 10 times/year. They have not busted the crank yet, and the TA has no problems in low range. They often run it in 4th high and it weighs about 10,500. The RPM's are probably no more than 2500.

If your vista still has roosamaster pump on it send it and injectors to Ed Gunther Walnut,IL (815) 303-3492. He can make unbelieveable power with these pumps. All our MM's are propane, but we have a 2-155 on field duty that makes 215-220hp and has torque rise to no end. Ed builds lots of pulling tractor pumps, Lots of them. Ed also has a AC 210 that he pulls himself,it makes around 550hp and it has a roosa pump on it.

Yes it still has the roosa master on it ,and no p pumps allowed I am running in the 11500 and 12500 classes, here in Missouri we have some of the best tracks around, it takes a lot of hp to compete. I cant get the vista under 11300 with no weight on it, and 20.38 tires. We have good pump guys here to.Trying to decide on going to 585 or stick with 504

Part out that 504 and go with the 585. The indirect injection 504 does not work well with a turbo and won't make the power you need UNLESS you can come up with a way to convert it to direct injection, and besides, you're gaining CID. The 585 will be a bit heavier but will bolt in. Make your own exhaust header/manifold, don't just bolt a turbo on the end of the stock N/A exhaust manifold, because as your rpm comes down there isn't enough exhaust pressure to keep the turbo lit. Call Fair Valley Performance in Sauk City, WI and see if he has any .450 Roosa-Master heads left, he did one for my MM 504 diesel a couple years ago that's great. He will need a MM core to work with because they're the only ones that turn "left-handed".

I would definately go with a 585. Some pump work and a turbo should make 300hp without to much trouble. Direct injection, more cubic inches and stronger internals. Its a win win. External oil pump is a must. And it bolts right in. Good Luck!

In the past 45 plus years I've seen several people try to pull a 504 MM diesel with poor results..A 585 is the way to go...You need to talk to the Ottos at St Thomas,MO..

I came across this info:
Alan Yoder, the owner of Charm Tractor, installed the Cummins in the G1000. He also put a diesel (don't remember what one) in an IH

I repowered a GBD in 1971. I put a 220 Cummins in and it turned out awesome. Phone # 269-449-5192 please call for information. No e-mail or texts.
