What could cause a U hand clutch to jump out under a load? Thought maby someone had ran into this before. Looking for ideas on what to look for. Thanks

The overcenter clutch is simple. It is either slipping and needs adjusted tighter or the clutch engaging. Part is too worn to stay locked in. I have never seen a bad lock but could happen.

We need more information. Are you tractor pulling? Has it been sitting for a spell? Is it actually snapping in or 'going over center' when you engage it? It is a gas engine, isn't it?

Its a gas and yes it disengages while pulling. you cant make it disengage unless its pulling. I have already tightened it up way tighter than it should have to be. I have never seen one do this. Just though someone had maby ran into this before. I have taken the cover off and had someone work the clutch and I cant see anything that could be a problem, Its snapping over center like it should. Thanks

it sounds to me that it just needs to be tightened up more. on my last puller we had the clutch as tight as we could get it to go and when on dyno it had to be tightened up more. just tighten it up more and should be ok
