MM RTU Rear Wheels

Hi all, I was just wondering, did they have a factory option for cast iron centers on an RTU? Mine has stamped steel, but they are trashed. A parts supplier told me that he has a set of cast MM wheels and rims, and he said that they were for an RTU. Is this correct? Thanks! Bryce

Cast centers were not used on R's. They always used the rims with the steel pressed centers. 1939 to 1947 used 36", 1948 to mid-1950 used 38", and after mid-1950 they used 34".

The early Z's used 36" cast until 1940.

Bryce, you might have some luck looking for some rear rims from the smaller John Deeres, not sure of the models but some of the "Bs" and smaller models possibly used them as well. The rear rims from the ZAs were the same as some "A" JDs. My dad bought a ZA new in 1950. It has the MM part number on the inside near the seam of the rim. The JD number is about one foot to the left of the valve stem, on the dish part of the rim, possibly might be on yours as well. Those rims have never been changed so they were used by both companies.

Where are you located Bryce? I got to thinking that I might have a pair of 9 X 38 rims off a ZTU that we parted out a while back. They would be the same as a later R. I'll check them out tomorrow. I'm near Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
