Has anyone seen a A4T1400 Plainsman? This is in a brochure.

Did they make a 1400 Plainsman? I thought the A4T-1400s were kind of phased out by the time they were labeling them Plainsmans.

I've never seen one, seen one plainsman 1600 for sale in Canada one time but that was it, I don't think they ever made many plainsman labeled a4ts did they, if so I don't see near as many.

They didn't make any A4T1400's as a Plainsman. But this promotional brochure shows one, This is a Canadian brochure. Plainsman model were mostly sold in Western Canada and plains of US.

Yes I have seen a hand full A4T-1400 Plainsmans. in MN, Dakotas & Montana. some still had the 504 engine, some were replaced with 585. They do exist.

Any pictures to verify? If they removed the 504's why? The 504 out of a 1400 is unique. Besides having turbo equipped components 1400's alos ran different injection pump.

that was before camera phones, so no photos. ALL A4T-1400's were recalled by MM to be re-powered with 585 & rebadged A4T-1600. not all were returned. I agree the 504 makes them unique, not to mention more dependable, as the 585 wasn't a good long life engine. Lots of power while the lasted, but the didn't last long.

Some day I'd love to have an A4T-1400, open, with 504. But in MM, not Plainsman decals.

I have owned 2 separate ones and I have reason to believe they were original and genuine...so yes they did and still do exist with 504's in them...possibly a better tractor than the 585 ???? now that should stir somebody !!! ha ha

We never had any engine trouble with our 585's (3 of them)...... but they all had the external oil pump when we got them. 2 of the tractors with the 585's are A4T-1400's. I agree it would be nice to find an original 1400 engine.

I do not currently own any 585's but have ran several and put quite a few hrs on them actually but mine always slobbered :-(....but would own one if the right one comes knocking!

Basically anyone could make a Plainsman. There were no different serial numbers. A set of decals bit of paint work would be all that is needed.

I think most 585s liked to slobber, most 585s that I've seen for sale always have oil and grease built up on the block think its just a common thing. Mine doesn't to bad, does a little out of one cylinder under exhaust manifold it slobbers it out but its better as the temperature is warm, it gets way worse when its cold out but that only makes sense
