G1355 Clutch

I"ve gotten the 1355 running that I showed pictures of in an earlier post and it runs very well but the clutch is stuck badly. I"ve loosened the bolts around the out side of the pressure plate few turns and started the tractor in gear and used the brakes to try to loosen the clutch plate but no luck so far I was wondering if there might be another idea out there trying to avoid splitting the tractor if at all possible? Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

Im not completely familiar with the way the housing is set up on those but is there a way you can have someone run the pedal with the tractor off so you can watch the clutch and see what is going on with it?

If it is rusted fast have you thought about hooking it to large tree with a good 20 foot log chain in between? Put it in first gear push the clutch petal down and hold it down, when the chain get tight it will either break loose, spin out or stall. Brakes will not do it you need a shock load.

Pull start it while hooked to tree? If you did get hooked to tree and front end lifts and clutch does not disengage someone gets hurt or killed. You have a valuable collector tractor. Fix the problem the right way. Joe

It is possible that the 3/8" bolt that holds the woodruff on the shaft is broken. This has happened two different times on our 2-150. Take a look to make sure the throw-out bearing is moving. If it is not moving, then this is the problem. It can be fixed by taking the top cover off the bell-housing.

The clutch is free!!!!! Good brakes and some hot water solved the issue. Now time to flush the cooling system out the upper radiator hose is 190 degrees and the lower is 110. It got warm eventually so I'm guessing I have some flushing to do?? Or any other ideas? I don't know if there is a thermostat in it or not yet

When I worked for an Oliver dealer in the spring we would always have one or two farmers with stuck clutches. Probably the most common ones were 1850's as we sold a lot of them. Hook it to a tree, put in low gear half throttle and as soon as the chain gets tight it will release. You hook the chain like a normal load and it will not raise the front end.
