Maybe it is just me.

If you look on E-Bay, there is what seems to be an entire MM G900 gas tractor being parted out. I know everyone has their opinion about parting out tractors, but they only made a few 900"s on gasoline and I hate to see it being parted out, especially because it looks like it may have been a nice tractor. Just really aggravates me I guess.

I agree with you Joe. There are some places that just buy tractors to part out. Sad thing to see happen. I know making money is a big thing but when all the commonly needed parts are gone and they cant sell the rest of the parts then it gets hauled off for iron. Some day there will be a pile of parts for sale but no tractor to put them on as they were all parted out. It really gets me in some of the descriptions when it is stated the tractor ran good before we dismantled it. Its one thing if there isn't enough of a tractor to be a tractor anymore. I know people want to make money but I would rather see a tractor go to someone who wants to use it and appreciate it. I bought a couple of 5 Stars out of a junk yard that were about half stripped. There were a few parts on them I could use.

I have a really hard time seeing tractors get scrapped........ but its nice to occasionally find some parts that you need. The unfortunate thing is what happens to the parts that don't sell quickly. I have bought "parts" tractors that seem to turn into another project. I have broken MM pieces that I have yet to haul to a scrap yard.

I guess I share the same views as you guys. If you have a tractor with a split diff housing or three holes in the side of the block, then it's acceptable to possibly part it out. But I guess I don't like them being torn into a million parts. Sell the engine or trans. Offer it to others as a project without dismantaling it so that it will never have a chance to run again.

It's like everyone says THEY"RE NEVER MAKING ANY MORE MOLINE TRACTORS!!!!!!

Years ago my dad used to kid me about saving anything that had any prairie gold paint on it. Even if it was broke or used so I know what you mean.

I couldn't agree with you all any more! I feel the
same way. Also to add if I need just one fourth gear
or something I wouldn't buy the gear as I would look
for the rear end. Some of the parts also just don't
go bad that often I would be worn out before it
does.

He wants $9.99 for every little part. What would it cost to rebuild it? Also it's irritating to see them sell a nut and bolt seperately?????!!!!!!!!!!!

His name is Marty, and I have bought a-lot of parts from him. Very fast on shipping. A very good Ebayer. But yes he will part rare tractors out, and every part will sell for what it brings. Also a word of caution. Don't wait because you will not see that part again if it does not bring a bid.

I saw this tractor before he tore it apart, looked to be decent shape! He about 1/2 hr away from me. Parting out these old tractors isnt illegal, but it may be immoral in my opinion.

I see your point. I also like old tractors (all colors) and have an antique tractor parts yard. But what I've run into is I'll have a complete tractor that I can't sell for $1000 but can part for $2500. I have a U right now that I've offered to people for $900. No takers. If someone calls needing an engine, it will bring $600-$750. Go figure???

As much as I hate to see tractors parted out, at least he added some new "blood" (parts) to the "Minneapolis Moline" search on eBay. I am just about tired of seeing the same 500-600 auctions for the last 3 or 4 years. There has got to be a limit to that...geesh. Or, someone taking a picture of a single manual or single decal set and duplicating it 100 plus times but with different tractor models in the subject line. Sorry for venting and certainly did not mean to hijack this thread. Sometimes eBay is painful to browse through.

I get tired of the manual listings / parts listings as well when they fit multiple models. They could be condensed.
