Yes, they are unique to the COLEMAN axles and very rare from what I am told.

I do make reproduction double and single battery covers for them if you are ever interested. How many of those tractors were ever made? Is one nice looking unit.

Yes, I do my own painnting. It has 23.1x30's and 11.2x24 tires on it.

I used NASON Ful-Thane. It is single stage urethane paint.

Started just after New Years. Engine was fine. Rebuilt front axle and fixed pins and bushings. Started painting in mid March and finished earlier this week. Mostly was just cosmetics, but still had to fix what had been "farmerized" over the years. It was painted in late 70's. Here is your before picture. High

Real nice Doug. Would look a lot better in my yard !!! Just kidding. I have never seen those front weights, youv'e got something different. all the frost out up there yet ?? Farmers got a good week in around here this week. A lot of ammonia went on. Be safe around the farm this spring. --Dean--

Thanks Dean, been spreading fertilizer all week. Should finish Monday. Hopefully start plowing mid week. Fields are drying up quite well, still soft along wood lines. Maybe start planting the end of the following week.

Thanks Clint, ok history: Dad and grandpa bought the 708 new. Picked it up in Jan of 66 an Hopkins, MN. Primary use for it was pulling 6 bottom plow with crowfoot cultipacker. It was our big tractor until the early 80's. Then it was used to pull 18 1/2 foot Moline field cultivator for incorporating green bean ground. Did that til mid 90's. Hasn't done much in the last 15-20 years except pull grain wagons. Don't see it doing much more now. Was glad they bought such a rare tractor for me to have now. I am sure there are not a lot of these tractors still in original owners family.

Great job. I see that in the origional picture it had a dry air filter, you must have put it back to the origional oil bath cleaner. Also I was wondering about the white band, I can't recall if it is supposed to go all the way back on those models or just part way like the origional picture. Either way, it sure looks nice the way that it is painted.

Yes it was originally oil bath air cleaner. The dry type in the before picture was put on here. The paint job was done by hired man here in late 70's and the only positive thing about it was, it was new paint. White stripe was wrong, color was definitely wrong, the way it is now is correct.

Why did it get switched to dry type air cleaner at some point?? Just curious... We've always run the original oil bath on the irrigation wells... Sort of messy & a little inconvenient, but pretty effective at cleaning the intake air...

Great looking tractor, you sure have put the time and money into that machine. MM tractors always look good in those lovely bright colours. Couple of questions for you:
where did you get the paint?
where did you get and how much were the rubber boots for the front axle?

Bill, I used NASON Ful-Thane paint which is single stage urethane paint that I purchase at my local auto parts store and the rubber boots I had on my shelf, but I think they are roughly $250 a piece from Case IH. They are used on IH 806 and 1206 FWA tractors. They are NLA from AGCO. You are right, a lot of time and money spent on restoring this tractor. Glad you like it.

Do you know what the color codes were for the yellow, and brown? I think the color of yellow i found that was closest was Penske yellow, but I'm curious what you used. You seem to have picked the right ones!

As the other guy says paint codes would be great if you have them. Do you think NAPA stores would keep the paint? Im visiting the US and Canada September/October 2014 so could try to pick up a couple of samples, this would then allow me to get it matched/mixed when I get back to Scotland. I have a 705 which I hope to get done shortly, I also have a MF97 fwa hense the reason I ask about the rubbers for the axle, hard to believe the price of these for just a bit of shaped rubber I can only hope the axle doesnt need many other parts.

The filter was no doubt switched because the LP tractors ran better with a larger dry type air cleaner. More power and better fuel economy. There was too much air drag with the oil filter. In the day while the operators manual said to use the same oil in the air cleaner as the engine, many dealers recomended to use SAE 10wt. Others said to not fill the cup up to the level mark, but leave it down below 1/4th inch or so. I know of some operators that used water instead of oil.

The paint codes I used were NASON Ful-Thane and were as follows.
Yellow was YS273IB
Brown was YSO54IB
I think the brown has a slight bit too much of a red tint to it, but isn't bad. If you could find brown with a little less red to it, I think it would be a winner. But I am not going to repaint the brown because of it. I can live with it.
