Rods in Engine

Restoring an engine and forgot which way rods should be in
engine. It is a 605 and don't remember if numbers should face
cam or other side or if it even matters. Thanks for your help
been awhile since I was inside a 6 cylinder engine. Book
doesn't say anything which way.

as a general rule; rod cap numbers will face toward camshaft. I have had occasion to have to put one in backwards and never had any ill effects from it.
