Will the whole differential from a 1945 rtu fit and work in a 1949 rti. The part numbers vary from rt number on rtu to 10a numbers on the rti. However if you switch whole differential would that work. Any advice or help would be great.

I am thinking that you may run into problems with the axle splines being different. I am pretty sure that the '45 axles were a fairly coarse spline and had the one big brake disk.

Then there was an axle change with more splines some time after MM went to the twin disk brake setup and that happened around about'48. There were some twin disk brake models that were made to fit the old axles, so I don't really know.
