Oliver 2455

I have been doing some catching up here on the forum and saw the A4T posts and found them interesting. As for the 2455's everything I have been told says that there was only one called out in the records as coming off as a 2455. I has also heard that it was used for picture purposes and then repainted red to fill an MM 1400 order. It is neat to hear that possibly one more was made for the CA Oliver show. Wonder if there are any pictures out there of that show.

As far as real ones I have seen pictures of 2 that are assumed to be fakes. One is the bubble nose that was posted in the other posts. The other is an open stating flat nose that is an obvious mock up.

As far as advertizing and literature pictures go, even alot of them seem to be airbrushed "doctored" photo's. In all the research I have done myself on these tractors it is neat to see what pictures they doctored up to make the Oliver literature. This Oliver literature also shows 3 possible decal schemes.

This is the believed fake, looks nice though ;)

This one was done up on purpose from what I have been told. Also looks nice.

This is the back of an Oliver brochure that show what is believed to be a the real 2455 produced for pictures

Blown up pic, This is decal variation #1. Also notice the grill is different from the MM's. This is the grill from the Plainsmans.

Here is decal variation #2. The "Oliver" decal is now in a black block on the side and the 2455 is now moved down to the same spot MM used. Also notice that this picture appears to be a doctored variation of the picture from above.

Here again is decal #2. I believe that this photo is a doctored photo of an MM 1400. Notice that this is a different tractor with larger tires on it and it is LP.

mvphoto3911.jpg

The top picture in this photo is another doctored MM picture. I believe it to be a doctored picture of the origional prototpe MM 1400 that was yellow.

mvphoto3912.jpg

I believe this to be the tractor from doctored photo #2

I believe this is the tractor from doctored photo 3

The mm corresponder said that there was one for sure and
maybe two 2455s, which I'd have to read it again to refresh my
memory, but I think the one was used for shows etc and then
was made into a a4t1400 not sure, I will have to read it again, I
know they share serial numbers but there was one 2455 made
for sure.

Here is decal variation #3. This is a flat grill tractor with the traditional Oliver styling and nameplates. It would be assumed that if there were ever any 2455's, none of them would have ever had the flat grill as that came long after A4T-1400 production had ended. This is also another doctored variation of the yellow MM prototype tractor photo. Even the 2655 in this piece of literature is a doctored MM A4t-1600 photo.

Here are a couple more curve balls for you guys. This I have been told is from a Canadian Cockshutt brochure cover. Not sure if its supposed to be an A4t-1600 or 2655.

mvphoto3920.jpg

This photo comes from a 72 or 73 Canadian Cockshutt plow brochure. This too is a doctored Oliver photo but neat that they thought about Cockshutt 2655's.

This picture is from a White ad in an Australian farm magazine. Appearantly the A4T-1600 was sold strictly as a White Plainsman down under.

Yes, Brian Gonyea has told me that there was for sure one made. But he said the production records indicate that it was repainted red and sold as an MM. There is however the possibility that a White branch house could have made up an Oliver 2455 for a dealer to fill an order. There would be no records to show this.

I do not know if Mike follows this or not, but I think that the guy in the last picture is Mike Verhulst.

So does anyone know if there is an actual cockshutt one made
or was there just pictures and not an actual cockshutt. I know
there the same tractor just different paint/decals but that's neat
never seen those pictures before, and never seen one that
said white on the front that doesn't have the "bubble nose" like
your last picture that's pretty neat.

I think I have some pictures from some Cockshutt literature on my old computer, I'll have to look, but that is a good point about the flat grill. I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it. Maybe some marketed in Canada with the flat grilles as well?

I went and looked on the Internet but couldn't find any, but maybe you are right about them being marketed in Canada, but if you do have any cockshutt brochures showing that please post I'd like to see, here's a good page I found.

Brian said: A 3pt hitch was not available on the A4T-1400. Then how come the 2 that we received in the first spring had 3 point hitches? They also had 1000 RPM PTO"S and factory M & W Turbochargers?

I used to have literature with pictures of a Plainsman with blue stars on it. What version is that? How much difference is there in the 1600 models between the early & later 585 engines?

That"d be the heritage model, the early ones had internal pumps and later ones should of had external pumps rather than that I think there the same but could be wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I like Moline tractors, always have, I started running them when I was 8, and spent a lot of hours looking down the hood on them over the years. It just seems to me that every Moline made was a one off tractor. Dad had seven G1000 diesels and not one of them was equipped or decaled the same. He also had three A4t diesels and not one of them was the same either. I have been to tractor shows and I always see different variations on the late MM's, in my opinion, there are no two alike. I bet the guys building them never got bored.

I have never heard of or seen a real Cockshutt 2455 or 2655. There is another Cockshutt 2455 ad that I saw on ebay years ago. It was an open station artist drawn picture of one. I have never been able to find this picture again.

There could possibly be a Cockshutt 2655 in Canada. Would be a cool rare bird. Would have been easy for white to take a red A4t put the Oliver grill and emblem plates on it. That is not something I would be surprised about them doing given the tractors from this time period.

The flat nose Plainsman is neat. That grill emblem is cool. I have been told that 18 Plainsman A4t's were shipped to Australia. I would imagine they all looked like this. Although I have seen another pic of one with a little different decals. But still said White Plainsman on it.

It does bring the question as to if there were any flat nose Plainsmans made in the US. I have never seen or heard of one.

Here are a few 1400 and 1600 Plainsmans pictures. Would like to know if there is a flat nose besides the Australian one.

The next time I go thru my bulletins, I will make you a copy of the bulletins on the external oil pump. The 2-150 tractors did not have external oil pumps to start with. You see now why I sent you those sheets.

Yeah I believe your right the very first 2-150s didn't but the majority did, think just a few of the first ones didnt.
