P/S pump failures

I have had trouble with P/S pump failures (Vickers Vane Pumps) on my G-1000 Vista. The number on the pump is slightly different than the one JoePro listed for his G-900 but I did take them apart. In both cases the center hub that holds the vanes failed and allowed a vane (or part of the hub) to come out and catch which also ended up cracking the outer part of the pump. This has happened on both pumps that have failed. The dealer had a terrible time finding a new one last year. We are using the pump that also fits a G-1050 and replacing the manifold on top of the pump with a reservoir. Wish some one could tell me why this is happening. When this type of failure happens I don't think rebuilding is an option and new is getting hard to find and very expensive.

Well years ago when I did this for a living on the green ones and we had some Vickers pumps on other things. On those power steering pumps it seamed like no one changed the fluid or the filters in them. They would do the same thing and then either break the hub or the drive shaft. I would need to go back and think a little. I do have some Vickers literature that might help you yet I think. J.
