The R engines are very easy to work on. The sleeves are cast into the block. Try Charlie at external_link.com. He has almost anything you need for that engine, with good quality and decent prices.

These tractors are not worth a lot restored as they are common, and interest has shifted to the 1955 to 1970 era in recent years. Normally you will have more into restoring an R or similar vintage tractor than it is worth. If it was a 1939 RTS(standard tread) or you had a factory cab for it that would be a different story.

I will say that a quality, factory correct restoration will usually bring a little more money on most anything. People like shiny paint and attention to detail. Your average "paint job" will not add any monetary value to a tractor. Especially if you are covering decent original paint. I'll take an original over a crappy paint job any day.

We recently parted an early R and an early Z, will have some of the parts you"re asking about and can get most anything you may need. Dale and Doug, 920 295 3278, riverdalefarmshop.cpm

There are no sleeves in them. The bores are cast in the blocks. They can be a little tricky to get freed up.
