Does anyone know or know where to find info on how many MM dealers there were in the U.S. and how many in each state back in the 40"s through the 70"s? We took over a MM dealership in South Central Nebraska (Edgar) A few years after the WFE merger. Any info would be interesting for all. Thanks.

The Siouxland MM collectors have an ongoing project to identify all of the known MM dealerships. They had their current map at the Albert City Iowa show. I don't have a contact for you but the Siouxland collectors are out if South Dakota.

Back in the late 1960"s-early 1970"s I worked part time for Bell Tractor at Milo,MO whom was the MM dealer..

Somewhere I have a late 1960"s inventory sheet of new tractors and combines for lots of the MM dealers across the US..

Some dealers in this area were the following..

Daneker Nevada,MO
Bell Tractor Milo,MO
General Irrigation Carthage,MO
Pearson Columbus,Kansas
Little Walnut,KS

Ken Carter Harrisonville,MO
Welters Verona,MO
?? Ft Scott,KS
Emmersons Hammond,KS
??? Emporia,KS
Shucks Lawrence,KS
??? Ottawa,KS

no such list is know to exist, .. yet.

However there are some "district lists" that give a snap-shot in time.

I have been compiling a list of all know MM dealers for the past 25 years.

I have some over 1300 accounted for last count, in 30 different countries! the majority are US dealerships.

These dealer names sure bring back alot of memories. Dad bought the dealership in Atwood in 1960, was Chapman Implement at the time, was changed to R&J Implement. I went in business with Dad in 1976, Dad retired in 1992 and Dave White Implement moved from Arthur to Atwood in '93. Anyway, there are a lot of dealers to be mentioned yet. Would be glad to make a list or share some more names.

There was a dealer south of Gibson City, IL that had a UDLX for a while. The implement hoist now is a part of the landscape of the residence as well as the quonset building.

Doug, I saw one on there a while back with dots for the dealers, like the old Twin City adds, but was in poor condition & overpriced, as with most things on epay.

There is a ring binder with a dealer listing for the late 40 s and newer. It is a rather thick book/binder. It has most of the states in it and where the dealers were located. I have seen it & used it several times.

In 49 or 50 my dad bought a new U I think from a dealer in Erie IL. Dont know dealer name.
Also there was a dealer in Platteville Wi. Also dont know name

I'm from northeast Nebraska, Neuhaus Implement was in Clarkson and was a mom and pop dealer went out in the mid 70's, seen a couple tractors with Zobel Implement stickers from West Point out in the 60's, Mick Implement in Norfolk will check the name with a guy Monday out in the 70's, Callies south of Leigh on a farm out 50-60's, seen a clothes pin bag from Newman Grove on ebay, and Johnson's in North Bend an Agco dealer now and where I get all my parts talk to Tom, he knows MM tractor and usually has the stuff I need.

Wrote a fairly long reply, but I'm not registered and for some unknown reason it wouldn't let me post it. Nothing controversial, just tractor talk, no links, no photos but something tripped their trigger. Has happened before and I would suggest their filter is a bit too crude. But it is their show and when this happens move on.

O.A. Keele Sandwich,Il. I remember being in there when I was early grade school age. Had several new tractors in the shop, 5 star and others. Pearl Keele was the lady that ran the business if I remember correctly. I have a black and white 8 by 10 photo of Pearl and her mechanic standing outside in front of the business. The building is still there but has gone thru several changes. For several decades after O.A. keele was gone the building was the office/ store for our local lumber co. The big box lumber co.'s forced our lumber co. out of business and since, the building has been renovated again.

Another m.m. dealer in our area was Doty Implement. Charlie Doty had his m.m. dealership in two different locations. Dover ,Il. was the last. Charlie attends the M.M. conventions and displays his model dealership. No lap tops back then. I don't think you could even be put on hold if you called, no "hold" button !!!!!!!!!!!!

Great topic !!

Uncle bought a MM U or R in early fifties at Lebanon, IN dealer, believe name was McClain Implement. Have not heard of any MM dealers west of State of Nebraska and thought they were never marketed west of Rocky Mountains but just wanted to sell within the central US states. Don't know if true or not.

The following are the ones I can think of right off. some of them are still in the tractor/farm equipment business:
Fillmans, Port Washington, OH sold out to Everett & sons in the 50's
Everett & Sons, Gnadenhutten, OH still sells MM parts
Graham Equipment, Adams Mills, OH
Lowe & Young, Wooster, OH
Witmer Inc., Columbiana, OH
F. J. Holland, London, OH
Leland Jackson, Mt. Vernon, OH

Thanks guys for all the great info. The MM dealers were a little before my time. The ones I know in Nebraska were the one here in Edgar, One in Geneva, York, and like Rich said, one in Riverton and Funk. I"m sure there were more.

Not really an answer to your question, but this vista g1000 of Dads was sold out of A & P Motors out of Dutton Montana. I believe this was a large MM dealer back in the day. Dad bought the tractor from a john deere dealership in south dakota around 1978. The A & P Motors sticker was on the side of the dash and front hood. The tractor had .60 over M&W pistons, and cat airfilter and pre cleaner. We later added the 20" tires it had the large 11.00-16" tires on it back in 78.

There used to be a dealer in Ballinger, Texas, I remember driving down there in the late 80s to get a waterpump seal for my UBU shortly after I bought it. I cannot remember the name, I have slept too many times since then.
I know a man in Abilene who used to have a MM dealership in Portales, NM. He said from after the war til the shallow aquafier dried up around there. His business card says Farm Equip. Co., sales and service since 1937.

Found interesting because I was in Ohio for many years. None around our place, looks like Mt. Vernon the closest. Not a chance we would go that far for service/parts with JD, IH, Ford, and MH/NI within a few miles. Easy to understand we didn't have any MM. Couple pieces of Oliver and remember going outside Croton (now Hartford) for parts one time.

some minnesota Moline dealers ; Moll in Wells, Borchert in New Richland, Johnsrud in Albert Lea and G. Harris in Northwood, Iowa.

Other southern Minnesota Moline dealers Balcom in Fairmont and Hoffman in Pemberton. The dealership in Funk Nebraska was Lind who did big business in Moline power units for irrigation wells and also Beck in Edgar Nebraska.

Stanly implement in clayton Indiana was a good one, later bought buy hendersons and became new idea and new holland dealers.

Huntington, IN or maybe South Whitely address had Kennedy's MM and later went to white and then Agco. Never was very big, but I got several old stock MM parts there and guys knew the brand. Now is gone, shut down 3yrs ago when daughter of orig owner was running it and got sick. Mostly into Cub Cadet lawn stuff in last few years.
Also, not far away in Bippus, IN was dealer right down on main street and when closed said to have wearhouse of parts still there after 30 years?? Never could verify that and think it was more a rumor, and may have had parts thre a few years and then gone. Think it may have been some sort of Hardware store actually.

There was one in Trenton Mo. Have calender dated 1945 and behind it was MM full line of equiptment. It is very fragil and mice have chewed on it. And for Shinnery the dealer in Ballinger Tx was Faubian.

Bud Ellis at Atkinson,Ill had aM-M dealership in the latter yrs of M-M.
Do not konw how I missed Charley Doty in my earlier list, Sorry Charley.
Was there a M-M dealer in North Henderson,Ill. ?

I remember MM dealers at: Payne, Oh. - Lawerence Schaefer Imp., Tillman, In. - Snider Imp. Ft. Wayne, In. - Schaefer Imp.

We had a Ben Kerber Moline farm equipment in Waterloo, Illinois, which later around 1962 was bought out by Paul and Ermin Brinkman and went under the name Brinkman Bros. Farm Equip. That dealership later became Paul Brinkman Farm Equip. There also was a dealer in Odin Illinois by the name of Doyle Quick moline farm equipment. There also was a dealer in Carlyle Il. called JANSEN MOLINE FARM EQUIP, and they are still there today selling Agco.

All from the good old days

I lived and worked for Thill implement in Rose Creek Mn. in the 1960"s They sold Olivier and MM. A busy dealership. Dave K

I remember dealers in Algona, Mason City, Nora Springs, Charles City, Northwood, Hampton,Ia, And a big one at Homestead, Iowa (Amannas).
