r moline rear axle seal, brakes

I am working on the brakes of a moline rts. I am
replacing the seals in axle and the one by
transmission. I am having trouble finding a
match to the one in the axle. The mm part number
is yt484 and its a old national felt seal part
number 5858. If anyone has a cross over number
or any ideas on a match that would be great.
Tried welters, lester, and a couple other people
and came up with nothing. Thank you. Can call me

I don"t know of any felt seal replacements. If you still have a useable "holder" then you can make a felt seal. The old felt carpet pads will work. Check long time carpet dealers in your area to see if they have some. If the holder is gone then you can go to a lip seal. You will need the I.D. of the seal / shaft size and the O.D. of the seal / housing size. A good parts house can come up with a seal with those measurements. Lip seals are usually thin. Most of the times it takes 2 to fill the space that the felt seal and retainer were in.

I replaced it with a modern seal. Works better and should last longer.

I got the shaft dimension and housing dimension, found a chart for national seals on line, got a part number and it worked perfect. I will have to see if I can find the part number.
