I knew I had this on my computer somewhere. It is one I saved off of the internet a few years ago, but I dont know where from. This must have been the color scheme Mike was referring to in the article. It is an interesting color to say the least. A very impressive task to build such a tractor.

The A4T (Articulating 4 wd Tractor) 1400 was only made for a few months in 1969. Only 249 diesel models were made to fill in until A4T1600 was ready in 1970. My 1400 has the altitude compensator (turbo) Oliver dealers could not get 1400's.

I remember seeing a service bulletin on the "turbos" for the G1000s, stating they were only to be used to bring them back up to the rated hp not to increase hp. Do you have any pictures of your 1400? Ive seen a couple is about all.

Here is a picture of our red 1400. We also have a yellow one that my dad repainted. I think both were among the last 40 produced. We are located in Texas. This was taken Easter Sunday in 2007.

Dads A4T-1400, it has A4T-1600 on the front frames in decals, but has 1400 on serial tag on the transmission. I have a bigger picture of it on photobucket, but can't seem to get logged in tonight, so this is the picture I posted on tractor photos a few years back.

Here is our old A4t-1400 Serial #28. They put 1600 on it when it was repowered. It had one of those same old loud cabs on it like that one pictured here by the fence. We just took it off and are going to get it ready for a parade tractor someday. It has the 585D engine with external pump. It runs but after sitting too long, I have to pull off the RosaMaster pump and have that plastic retainer fixed, keeps dying. I have the nose cone but it is so brittle that pieces break off the edges if you pick it up so I need to find a good one. I have copied the side hand rails from that yellow prototype also and will have them on it soon. Then some new tires and paint and maybe it could look as good as the Oliver one. We even thought about painting it yellow.

Does a a4t1400 have any value have one close to me doesn't have any sheet metal or motor has 3pt bet I could buy it cheap never checked but its been sitting 20+ years.

I have seen a few that have been painted yellow and white, they look sharp that way. I don't know why they didn't leave the factory yellow and white.

I always wondered that as well. I think they look sharp too. I kind of got the impression from the article that White wanted a "universal" color with the name White on it. I think that is where the heritage colors might have come from as the first Plainsman was red white and blue.

I would pick it up if you can. It has value to someone otherwise it will be hauled off for iron one day. Ive missed some that way. I wouldnt mind one myself just for a little "tinker" field work.

This one is at a mm place, I might go see the in the summer I wanna look at a 2-150 they have also that's been sitting awhile.

I see yours still has A4T-1400 on the side. Has it been repowered with the 585D and if so, does it have the external oil pump? It has the same old cab on it that I removed from mine. It also is missing the nose cone, does anyone have one for sale?
I wonder how many of the origional 1400s are still out there and could be accounted for with serial #s? It would be fun to get a list going, a lot of scrap iron in each one so i'm sure a bunch have disappeared.

Mine has rebuilt 504D-6A motor. It has the special injection pump used only on A4T1400's. Pump setup for turbo. Also would have turtied crankshaft. Have found three nose cones but never bought ones. Know of NOS one but would need painted. They are pricey. No A4T came with cab. There were two different add on cabs.

Heres the other picture of it replacing an axle bearing several years ago. A year later we snapped the front axle off dozing manure, had to fix it out in the cattle lot, not so good times.

Neat picture. How have you been? You have a lot of interesting tractors. I can almost feel the warmth of the air......maybe it will warm up again lol.

My brother has A4t-1400 SN:439000154 with a cab. It has a 585 with the internal oil pump. It is in very good running condition. The tractor is in located in central MN. We had to remove the engine to replace a valve and re-build the internal oil pump when we got it. Other than that the engine was in good condition. It has been repainted and looks good.

Been hanging in there, nice and balmy today, I think it hit -5 for a high. Looks like by next week should be able to get by with one pair of long johns, take care. :)

Wait a minute here. I worked for an Oliver dealer and we got 2 new in on the same flat car. Both had the factory turbo. The only other dealer that had a contract to sell them close to us was also an Oliver dealer. Here in Ohio the dealers had to be 50 miles apart to sell them. It was a separate contract.

John

You told me previously Oliver dealers ordered A4T's and MM wouldn't supply unless you were a dealer.

No we could not get a green one 2455). You had to have a separate contract to sell them here. There was a very good M M dealer down the road. He did not get a contract to sell them but the Oliver dealer 20+ miles away got one.

So were there any true 2455's that carried there own serial number? I could make one out of my 1400 with a little paint and a few decals. I don't think there ever were any. Kind of like a green Cockshutt 1350. Oliver had no parts books or microfiche on 2455.

The tractor I posted earlier is serial #120. We also have a yellow one (repainted) with serial #239. Its tough to read those serial #'s behind those big fenders.
