Greetings,
One of the power steering lines between pump and pedestal broke and let out all fluid.

Is there a best fix? Replace metal line with hose? Use a coupler with sewage fittings?

Interested in any suggestions you may have.

Thank you,
Sam c

I do not know the name of the line. It is on the left side of the engine between the block and frame rail about 6 to 8 inches behind hydraulic pump. When the steering wheel turns oil spews out. It seems to be about 3/8 inch in diameter.

Not sure of what your exact situation is, but I always just brazed up any hydraulic piping that developed wear holes on my old JD 4840.

It always worked fine.

I agree with Howard. Brazing is worth a try. Just make sure the brazing doesnt go too deep in the hole and plug the line. I had that on a 5 Star when I bought it and am guessing that is why the pump runs warmer than normal.
