Avery V engine repair

I'm working on a V that was saved from the crusher. After removing the manifold and valve cover I saw that water entered the exhaust ports and some of the valves are stuck. I plan to at least free and repair any valve damage, pull the pistons and rering as needed and hopefully get it running with minimum repairs. I've heard that rings from a Farmall Cub will work as well as Briggs/Stratton 8 hp. Any information about the engine and other parts of the tractor is appreciated. Stan

Do you have any ring catalogs? Do you have the pistons and rings out? Not all those V engines use the same ring set either. How can I contact you? J.

I have a military power unit engine, was going to put it into a V but the military engine is a "5 gear crankcase" and the origional engine is a "3 gear crankcase". Won't fit unless you cut the frame rail for clearance. Just throwing that out there as info.
