UTS brake adjustment

I am replacing the oil seals on the brake shafts and find the brake adjustment is way out. A number of years ago I read a very detailed description of how to adjust UTS brakes. Thought I had kept it but can't locate it and I don't have an operators manual for this tractor. Can anybody provide advice or point me in the right direction?
 
I assume you are working on the model that has a brake drum mounted on the side of the rearend / trans housing. There is a slot or hole in the brake drum. Move the tractor or tire (if jacked up) to about 11 o'clock. At that point you should be able to see the adjustment gear cog. Use a brake spoon (or flathead screwdriver) to rotate the adjustment gear. I don't remember which way to turn it; (up or down) but: turn it a bit check your pedal travel; and you will know if you are tightening or loosening it. (adjusts the same way as old drum brakes on an auto)
 
I have a manual for a UTU with the brake information. Call me with your address and I can mail you copies of those pages. 660-542-2117. A UTU has shoe brakes and may be like your UTS. Jim
 
Thanks for the replies, and thanks, Jim, for the offer to mail a copy of the manual but I am in Australia, so not terribly practical. I have only worked on the left brake so far and found the top portion of the front lining had broken away and bent the shoe. I pressed that back to a curve and then followed the adjustment instructions, and that brake now feathers nicely. I will still replace the linings. Local brake service can bond "roll on" linings but wanted to know the thickness. As far as I can work out, they look like 1/4" but maybe 5/16". Does anybody know for sure?
