ive heard hd 800 heads are best followed by 4232.. what are some other good ones besides 4206 and 4210?

Depends on what you are putting them on and what you are wanting to accomplish. There is a web site that is available by accessing mm cylinder head; then scroll till you find "cylinder head specifications for MINNEAPOLIS-MOLINE. It has the specs on each head and how they apply to various bore and stroke. The square port heads are considered to breathe easier; but; are harder to find. (4230; 4231; 4232 and 4233)

The 4232 heads are not 800 heads. The 30-33 heads were most commonly found on the 336 and 504 engines in tractors such as M670, G1000. Email me if you have further questions

Square port heads flow better, especially at higher rpm. 06 and 10 heads are round port. 31 and 32 heads are found on HD605 and others. 27, 28, and 29 are found on HD800. From what I'm told, the main difference between them is chamber volume, but piston design and head planing will make whatever compression you need. Both of my HD800 are 28, my regular 800 I think has 12, my regular 605 has 09, and my HD605 has 31. One 504 has 10, and the other has 06.

the chart shows 39s on a hd425 and a 425a a 9 to 1 compression. the 32 on a 425 is 7.2 to 1 on a 425. on a 504 it is at 9 to 1 compression.

thanks for all replies. thinkinng mid 500 cube range 4cyl 1600 rpm...will square ports gain very much over 4206 or 4210?

i had a 570 cube 4cylinder in a U and if you go that route you will have to buy custom pistons. i had 4233 heads on mine and it had a bunch of compression but it pulled like a mule. in 6 and 6500 lb classes 3rd gear it never changed tunes from one end to the other. you can go with a 530 cube and use hd800 stock pistons. i am having a 665 built and using 4232 heads on it.can you use hd800 parts or do you have to have jugs built and sleeved. thats where a bunch of mone comes into play there.
