i am looking at 2 M670 tractors. one is a straight m670 and the other is a super M670. what is the pros and cons between the two if any and which would be the perferred one to buy. i can get either for the same price.

I'll be curious what others say? We had a Super U302 and then got a early straight U302 and we always thought the straight U302 seem to run better at the slower RPM. The Super always was hard to get the engine to stop when turned off with it's high compression. It is kind of hard to tell the exact difference since one Manual fits both of these tractors. Was there more power with the Super? There was a little more flair and fancy in the Super U302 features than the old work horse plain U302 but more often than not the plain one started better and was most dependable

That is a tough one as to me they are both neat for their own reasons. The regular M670 being unique as they were only made for a year or so, the M670 Super as it seems a little more modern. Myself I would lean towards the 670 Super. I think the power steering is better on them than the regular 670. Im not sure if the torque is the same in both or if the Supers were updated. Do you have any pictures you can post of either one?

I wasn't aware that the 302 supers had higher compression. I don't believe the 670 changed any major engine components like that. The only engine changes that I could see were things like the govenor, distributor and maybe carburetor. I think the supers upgraded from a generator to an alternator. I don't know if they steer better, but the radiator is not part of the steering casting on the supers which I'm sure reduces the heat. The supers continually improved the hydraulics and the torq was improved as well. All that said, I'm not sure you can go wrong with a 670. They are a well built machine whatever the year.

I think the super 670 was one of MM's better tractors. We have 3 of them. Here some differences:
The early 670's had the hydraulic pump at the back of the tractor. This does not allow a dual speed pto. The super 670 has the hydraulic pump on the left side of the engine, and the power steering is on the right side. MM was constantly updating, so the super would have better updates. The early 670 is neat in many ways. There were about 819 on diesel and over 1800 on lp or gas. Those #'s were doubled for the supers.

the supers with the tach drive in the center of the block are the heaver casting. don't know about the early 670s but my super has rectangle port heads.

My 1965 (plain M670) has 4232 heads. It needs some attention to the power steering. The supers have hydrastatic p/s. The quick way to spot the difference is the lack of a steering shaft, to the frontend, on the super.
