Magneto Problems for RTU

I have a RTU that we are restoring. I have a new battery and I have checked all the wiring. We are getting power to the magneto, but nothing is happening when you push the start button. The button has been checked also an it works. We checked the condesor with an Ohm meter and it read 0, so I assume it is good. Does anyone have any ideas or help?

Bill,
I'm assuming you mean power to the distributor or coil. Magnetos do not get power. The only wire to a magneto is a ground wire to kill the spark. Since the R model came with both a magneto in early production and a distributor in later production its hard to give advice until we know just what you have. Does it turn over when you push the start button but will not spark?

A good condenser will not read "0" That's a dead short. On the highest resistance scale on the meter It should rise a little on the meter , then return to infinity....

The Condenser and points are in parallel. If you check the condenser in circuit with points closed it will read zero.

I have a Fairbank Morese Magneto K4B4 on the 1946 RTU. We get spark on the points when we crank it without the cap on, but as soon as we put the cap on there is no spark at the plugs
