Finally got to use the chopper....

Finally got the model 60 IH chopper fixed to use. Seems to work good. Need to get the cab back on the 950 as it gets chilly chopping at night at 26 degrees. Been trying to find a good gear to chop in. Does it hurt the ampli-torque long term to use in low range for field work? 3rd in low range seems to work well.

That's a good lookin tractor, but I would not enjoy the 26 degree weather. It should be fine to run the tractor in low range. Make sure the oil in the amplitorc is warmed up good before putting the tractor in low range. Have fun with that pretty yellow toy.

Nice looking set up. My brother-in-law used my 1355 to haul some grain today and he was sure glad to have the cab! We pulled our disc in 4th low all the time (thousands of hours). The last time the torq was rebuilt was around 1978. Still holds well. Just watch the hills!

Thank you all for your comments. I dont really enjoy the 26 degree weather either. I think it would be less fun on another make of tractor lol.

Thank you. Yes, its over at my cousins at the moment. Hauled some sileage with it a little while back and some manure and did some raking. Going to be back to hauling manure again as well...government shutdown you know...lol
