Useable R Transmission

Jeff Gravert, do you have a good, quite R transmission and rear end up there? I have a 1947 that became trash last month.

Thank you for that. I"d like to find one a little closer to Colorado if possible. If I can"t a nice roadtrip to Indiana may be in store.

yes I have an R that I pull some, it is a 1950 model. We bought an R a year or two ago that had been stripped and sandblasted and never put back together. We just bought it for the parts and engine probably wont use the rearend.

What have you done to the engine? How does it usually do?

I have a 1947 RTU, no engine work yet. I did my usual "Pull Prep" and took it for it's first pull on Labor Day. Let the son in law pull it, looked GREAT until the end. Back half bound up tight. Ring had chips broke off on every tooth, bearing cage bent. Found reminants of teeth but could not find cause. Washers for pinion shaft appear perfect, gears line up perfect, all bearings appear intact. Still searching for issue.

Was very happy with the way the engine performed, NO power drop at all, pulled 160%. Liked the balance for a 3200 pound tractor.

I know of some complete R tractors (running and not)on the western slope of CO. He does not have any broken down though for rearend or trans only, and I know he would want to get rid of compete tractor in any case.

I'm going to Nebraska to look at the Z this Sunday. I'm VERY excited, he has a lot of Moline stuff. I'll bet I"m going to get that one but if something won't work I will contact you. Thank you for the information and help!

My tractor has been bored and stroked has the good lp head makes about 58 on the dyno. It does pretty good in the 3500 range but around here its all distance pulls and they start at 4000, it won't keep up with the 310 olivers in that weight. I would sell you the rearend and frontend of that one. You can call if you like 3173413563

The z transmission is diferent from your r. I would take 3000 or best offer I can send pictures if interested.
