Here's a rule sheet for an Iowa tractor ride, as you can see when reading threw the rules it states no cabs allowed, just wanted to show you guys so you didn't think I was pulling your leg! I don't really like the rule either but that's tHe way most are.

It states it under driver safety pledge
Tractor ride rules

I didnt think you were pulling anyones leg lol..... It almost sounds like it is more for them as it is called a parade rather than a tractor drive. I plan on putting the cab back on my G950 so I guess I cant attend one... Maybe you need to start your own for cab or no cabs....:)

Who would spend money to go on a ride like this? I can and do ride up and down the road weekly and all it cost is some diesel fuel money.

I am sure the no cab rule is there to keep the new/big tractors out. Kind of screws anybody with a UDLX or a '60s tractor with a cab. Do they have a year limit?

I emailed them and asked why...didnt really get an answer, just that they were going to talk it over on the next meeting for the 2014 one... Im thinking the same as Brian that it would be to keep the new stuff out, but why not just put a year limit on it...

Maybe if they get a few people with pre 1975 tractors even pre 1980 ones they would re-think it...

For $50 per tractor, it"s actually not a bad deal when you look at everything they are providing, especially if you figure 2 people per tractor. Our club here only has 1 rule...don"t forget your cooler! I agree the no cab rule is totally out of line. I have a 1962 Moline G705 with a cab, and everyone in our club agrees that the cab on this tractor adds a lot of character. The other thing the cab tractors usually have is flashing lights of some kind, we put the cab tractors in the back to add to the safety of the group, along with the guys who have serious "ride only" tractors that have working stop/turn/tail lights and amber flashing lights. I have a LED strobe for a tow/service truck on mine (as well as a set of big truck air horns...thereby adding to the overall coolness LOL)

My MIL's FIL has one on his oliver and I've seen a few others, helps with stiff old necks on some of the elders. Would be handy but it's hard to get them not to vibrate. chris in Stanton Nebraska

Most people around here mount a little round mirror on the fender, but when I've went I've never had one

It isn't as expensive as you think, you have a lot of fun seeing all the tractors talking to others, and you always get a shirt, three meals, and a hat, and at the end they always draw about 15 names for prizes, I'm usually pretty lucky and win something.

Im not a tractor ride guy but I have customers who are. From what I hear in the shop The reason for the ban on cabs is because of guys showing up with 1086's and 4440's and they are trying to keep it to antique tractors. I don't understand it myself. I farm wth a pair of 1086's and a 1066 and I cant hire help in the fall, nobody whants to run those OLD tractors for cash but the same guys would be front and center to drive older tractors with no cabs on a 100 degree day or in the pouring rain on a tractor ride!

i would run those old tractors cab or not if you were hiring. i actually prefer old tractors compared to new tractors, heck, i would do it year round, not just in the fall
