Page 78 in my manual is a sketchy attempt at a wiring diagram. It shows firing order 1 3 4 2 clockwise. I believe the Jet Star Four Star series are counter clockwise.
Position of the distributor can vary depending on how the shaft is set when it is inserted in the engine so clock position compared to manual should not be a concern.
Remove #1 (front) spark plug. put finger over plug opening and rotate the engine. Observe direction of distributor rotation. When compression forces your finger from the hole you should be on #1 compression stroke. The distributor rotor should be pointing at one of the plug outputs in the cap. Put #1 plug wire on that port and continue with #3, #4 and #2 as it rotates around the cap. If distributor had not been moved you should have it set.
