I imagine at some point this has probably be talked to death but I am rather new to the forum and having a little trouble searching for what I am looking for.

We are in the process of restoring my dads UB Special Diesel bought new by my grandpa. We are trying to find a source for the correct paint for us. We are not looking for the more elaborate clear coat finishes. Dad really wants to have a result closer to the way it was when it was new so really just looking for a better type of enamel of the correct color. Have order a couple of samples off the internet but they have generally been the newer shade and don"t match the color it was originally when we compare it to the good paint under the hood and such.

Looking for suggestions. I suppose the dupont paints that O"Rielly"s sells would be good but don"t have the correct codes to go there and have been having trouble finding them.
Would sure appreciate any suggestions.

Try the MM Collectors site - under the Paint Codes tab on left

MM collectors site will give you info on the right paint. I like to use PPG omni in a urethane top coat (no clear coat) it lays down nice and gives a great finish without costing too much.

When I used to use Dupont, I used CENTARI and the code was 1021A. Don't know if they even still mix centari, but I am sure they can do something with that code. The color was very close in my opinion. Hope this helps.

I can't help you with the paint question, but I wanted to compliment you on restoring your Grandfather's tractor. I have a UB Special Diesel also, although mine is a fencerow rescue, its still a neat tractor. I have a 1954 UB diesel my Great-Grandfather bought new and has been in the family since. Its great to pass on that kind of heritage and history. Don't forget to post lots of pictures so we can see your progress!

From my August 2013 issue of MM Corresponder, a UB Special Diesel used PG2 for everything but the wheels and they use Cherry Red. This is the list from www.minneapolismolinecollectors.org.

See if you like what you fine on equipmentcolor.com if you want to spent more go to their other line on tractorcolor.com. I have done two tractors with their paint and have been pleased.
