G-1000 rear end

Here is a question for all the old timer mechanics out there with G-1000 experience,
I got this old 1967 G-1000 LPG out of a barn this spring, got it running good and fixed a few leaks and a lot of little stuff.
I pulled it last night in the barnyard 10,000lbs class and it did great. torque worked just fine, good power and everything. But the other day I was mowing with it and noticed when I back up its got catch and jerk in the rear end, mostly in low torque, but will do it any time, mostly while turning short. Doenst have a growl or anything like that, and I did notice I have some oil leaking out the bottom of the left brake housing, and the left axle seal is dripping.
So my question is, id the rear end read to go out? what are the odds of it just being oil on the brake and hanging up? With the axle seal leaking I"m afraid I"ll have to go clear though the rear and trans? wanting to take it on a 35 mile tractor drive in a couple weeks and then do some plowing with it. Not sure is I should trust it or not.
Thanks for any advice
Shawn

Im probably not much help to you as I havent been around the BIG MMs that much yet lol...but does it do it only in reverse? Does it start to jerk when you just let the clutch out or after the cluch is let out all the way? If a brake is sticking you should feel some warmth on the outer cover on the brake after it has been drove a little bit. There are alot of strange things that can show up sometimes.
