Head bolt wrench for M5 and other later MMs

Anyone know where to get one of the head bolt wrenches for the M5s? Someone said once that JD used a style like in on injectors but may not hold up to a headbolt.

To my knowledge, nobody makes them anymore. Snap-on used to but like so many other things, "obsolete/discontinued". I know a guy here locally that lets me borrow his but he makes a note of the date and who has them every time. Your best bet might be to make one. I called the old MM dealer I get my parts from to borrow theirs, and he said "Nope, those don't leave the building, but if you bring the tractor here we'll do it for you for free"...LOL

There is an old post here on this board that discusses this. There is a snap on part number and they can be found from time to time. Wouldn"t be all that hard to make one either.

Thank you for the info. Someone said they may break on headbolts. Do you have a phone number you can email me if they cant order one? Any idea the price of one?...its ok...Im sitting down lol....

went to old minny dealer sail bought an old box of whatever and that was in the bottom still in wrapper used it many times even on john deere heads torque to yield bolts the one for deere injectors spreads when you torque on it

I checked ebay and didn't find one, but snap on did make one part number B4203, lists for JD Case and Minnie Moe. chris

It is easy to make that wrench. I took a "stout" looking wrench and made mine about 50 yrs ago. Still using it with no problems. Mite not look the nicest, but it works. clint

mightymolinekid,
The wrenches to torque down the head bolts still exists. Last year I contacted the OEM manufacturer and asked for a quote on getting a run of them made.

I was told that the wrenches could not be made for me because AGCO still supplied them to dealers and would not release the tooling for open sale. A similar wrench is also still being made for Deere. The Deere wrench is just slightly shorter.

I gave this information to an AGCO dealer. The AGCO dealer was ordering his needed wrenches from his local Deere dealer. The last I heard; the AGCO dealer was going to have an intensive talk with his AGCO rep. That is the last I heard of the subject.

Getting these wrenches made would be a snap, if I went overseas. The Asian companys will make whatever you want with reasonable tooling costs. Going to a domestic company to get specialized tooling is darn near impossible. The biggest problem is that there is really only one custom tool company in America. Robinair, SPX, Kent Moore, OTC, and several dozen other companys are now just one company. If someone would point me to a company in the USA, or Canada, that wanted to make some wrenches; the problem of getting special MM tooling would be a memory.

I personally use two torque adapters and a six inch extension bar to do the deed on those times when I want to torque the heads of an engine in service.

If you get them made....put me down for one. I know a couple of other people that would be interested as well.

That is what I was thinking. I think the main problem is around the water manifold.
