Do the transmission and the differntal share the same oil on a m5? I see a sight plug in frt of the brake pedals I assume this is the level plug? I don"t see anything on the differntal. Do you fill it through the plate behind the shifter? 80-90 wht oil? Thanks!

Yes you fill through the the plate, and trans and diff all share. But fill to the plug down by the brake lock not the one in front of the brake pedals. That is the ampli-torq compartment it's level is higher and is kept at that level buy the gears in the trans and runs back to trans through the bearing on the top shaft. If you would fill the trans till it runs out the plug you are talking about will take about 40gal and soon you will have fluid coming out the axles, brakes, etc. This is assuming you are topping it off. If you drained it then, trans-diff and ampli-torq both need to be drained. Drain for A-T is left side down below step. And it must be filled first through the A-T adjustment hole on the right side till it is at the level to the plug you are talking about. It must be full because if not you will cause damage to A-T before the trans gears get it full otherwise.
