What causes this?

Went and drove that m670 today, you drive it and if you touch the steering wheel it steers all over the place, when its sitting still its better but still not right, how do you fix it, how much will it cost? I told him I had to see what it needs before I buy.

probly just need to pull the steering valve off on the bottom of the column and get it rebuilt, tractor data says its hydro steering them can have some screwy problems

Someone said the early ones had problems, this one is a super and has a brown belly, so must be in between. Is the steering valve the one down by the alternator or up under the steering wheel. Are they easy to rebuild or would it be something to take somewhere.

i think bout all of them had problems bout every IH 806 you have to keep turning the wheel one way to keep them straight, i've heard of certain john deeres that'll be going down the road and they take off towards the ditch

i don't know the technical names but i was refering to the one on the steering shaft but i would think it could be the hydralic steering gear box also but i don't know i haven't had one apart yet don't know if i'd attempt it without a factory service manual

If it is a Super and brown like this it should be a 1966 model. OliverNate....Ive heard that as well on the JDs about the ditch. Ive taken the steering units out of the 4020s before. G1355....If you can get the unit out there are a couple of places that might be able to do it. Didnt someone mention once on here about using a different steering motor from something else on them?

Yours looks a lot nicer, I'm kinda scared to buy this one, after I ran it, none of the gauges work, I wouldn't be able to drive it home, I'd even have a hard time driving it on a trailer, rims are about rusted through from fluid. And the fenders are beat up bad. Rest of sheet metal is strait. Seems to run okay.tires aren't the greatest either. And all the black pieces around the lights are gone which is common. He won't go lower than 2500, and I don't think it's going anywhere, I might just let it sit for now.
