Good place to bolt a lift chain to remove M5 engine?

Going to be taking out the engine on my M5 to work on it. Where is a good safe place to bolt a lift chain to? Wondered about head bolts but dont want to break anything on the head. Did wonder about making a bracket to bolt on the two half inch bolts where the fuel tank support goes and a bracket on the bolts where the fan support bolts on? Any suggestions? Going to be bolting it in an engine stand to work on. Thanks in advance.

I'll be interested in what others have to say. I lifted my M602 engine okay with a chain from the from the front manifold stud to a bolt thru one of the back flange holes being carful not to crush anything with the chain and it did not look to pretty but got it done.

I had to get an better Crankshaft and found a Power Unit block that was reasonable and it came with a Lifting Eye hook made out of Flat metal bolted to the middle 2 head studs and that looks like the way to do it. I would not be surprised if it did not come with it out of the factory. I could provide some dimentions but it looks like something I'll be using from now on.

What kind of a engine stand do you have for them heavy engines? I'm doing mine on its side for lack of better equipment.

Dimentions and or pictures of the lifting eye hooks you mentioned would be nice. I might have seen something like that once but didnt pay attention to it and probably should have. I made my own engine stand. Built the frame, used pillow blocks on each side and a gear box from a sileage wagon.

I used the bolts in the side of the crankcase where the frame bolts to it, had the chain up over the top with the valve covers off. Used a front on one side and a rear on the other. No problems and have done it several times now with an engine complete from clutch to fan. As a matter of fact I just put the engine in my UB diesel that way this past Friday...
