Does anyone know what this spring, sleeve and rod are supposed to be?(bottom picture)
Pulled them out of an lp gas U parts tractor. They look different than the one that I have in the other U and UB governors I have. The srping inside the sleeve is tapered and the rod is a two piece rod.
I was told by an old moline mechanic some time ago that there was a lighter spring for the U when guys would use it on the silo blower. It was supposed to be more responsive.

The top one is the old style spring, the bottom one is the new style spring. A straight spring like the top one will have less tension as it expands. The bottom spring was a conical spring that was suppose to maintain the same amount of pressure from compressed to extended, therefore making a better and smoother governor action.
