I currently farm 150 ac with a 670, GB, UB, ZB, and UTS. I just purchased an adjoining 117 ac. And have rented 80 ac for 2014 I want to stick with Minnies but a vista is listed at 110 HP? AAccording to equipment makers most new machinery I am looking to pull needs 10 HP per foot . I was hoping to pull a20 ft disc and ccrumbled came I juice a vista safely? Can u put the Minnie motor from a white 2-150 in a vista ? I remember as a kid a neighbor pulling 6-16s with his vista ..... we have heavier loam to light gumbo clay here any thoughts or ideas? I am trying to not go any heavier than needed on the tractor weight ..... looked at an A4T but am worried they are too heavy fro some of our wet spots ..... thanks for any ideas or help you can give me

If it were me, just my opinion, I would go with a slightly smaller implement and travel a little faster. Im not sure but I dont believe a 150 engine would fit.

It will pull it, we used to pull a 21 foot disc with a 2-105 white about 3mph. You won't set the world on fire, but if you go smaller like Alan said you will pick up some speed. And I'm sure if you need more power turbocharge it. I know m&w used to make turbo kits for g1000 I know it can be done. I'd like to see the old girls if you wouldn't mind sharing pictures with us.

Oh, and yes the 585 motor will fit, don't know what you gotta change to make it it but I've seen them in g1000s, there are a few on youtube also. But I would keep the factory 504 in it. If you want bigger buy a g1350 or g1355 if you wanna stay MM and wouldn't mind having the 585 motor.

A 585 is a direct bolt in, no changes except air cleaner and exhaust hood locations, and small things like that. I have a friend that has one in a g1000 wheatland.

You will encounter some problems putting a 585 from a 2-150 in a Vista. The main problem is that the 585 in the 2-150 uses a full circle seal & the Vista uses the older syle rope seal. This means that the flywheels have a different bolt patterns. An early 585 that has the rope seal would be a better choice or simply use a G-1350.

I will post some pictures when I figure out how to lol thanks for the ideas..... how hard is it to turbocharge a vista ? And will there be Any long term affects to the motor ? There was a Moline man near me ( randy hawk) who's dad used to turbo everything but they are both gone now

How much increase of power do you get from a turbo ? I found that I can order a 18ft rock flex from kuhn Krause that would be possible with a turbo ??? Again thanks for all the help

Probebly around 20 horsepower or so, yes a 18ft would be fine. It will pull a 20ft non turbod and you'll just go a little slower. A turbo should cause any problems, don't know what you all gotta do to turbo it, someone will know

A Vista should be able to pull a 20 foot disk. My grandfather bought a 20 foot disk and G1000 row crop in 1966. It pulled the plow decently. They also pulled a 6 bottom mowboard with the tractor and lugged the motor (1500 rpm) all day long. The crankcase eventually cracked. The 585 should bolt right up to the Vista flywheel. A small bell HD 800 engine would also bolt right up, but could be tough to find. The G1350 and 1355 came with the factory 585 (on diesel). The 1350 is a little more rare. The 1355 is half Oliver (transmission and rearend) That Oliver transmission has 6 forward and 2 reverse (and a 3 speed powershift) for each gear. This gives lots of choice on gears.

That's 347 acres and I am assuming you aren't planting the same crop in all of it at same time. Along with what you allready have why would you need any more than another 110 hp tractor?? All 110 tractors are not created equal either. A MM and Case 110 hp have 504 cubic inches and 5" stroke and gov speed is 1800 rpm on MM and 2000 on Case. The White 105/110 both have only 354 CID and depend on a turbo and hi rpm (2200-2400) to get the same power. Which do you think will lug better and last longer? You allready know if you have all those MM,s. That G1000 with 110 will pull and lug as good as the JD , Ollie , IH , White , AC or Ford rated at 125 hp. As far as the implement dealer and his 10 hp per foot rule....that means a 75 hp Case 870 will do well to barely cover it's rear wheel tracks?? yea , right.

I agree, I always argue on that 10hp per foot rule, old tractors will pull way better than new ones, and out weigh them to. Bottom line is they just used to put a lot of cubic inches in the MMs especially.

My dad used to have a GTB. He said it would pull 4-16s in alfalfa at idle or wide open, didnt matter (they only ran 1100 under load). He always said they had "bigger" horses back then lol....
