Bought a G705 LP that was on gas, and got all the parts with it to go back to LP. Runs great on a forklift tank after cleaning the regulator and mixer. I put about 2 gallons of LP in the main tank by backfilling it with a hose from the forklift tank, but the engine barely idles off the big tank. Probably just not enough LP in there yet. The tank had a little pressure on it when I got it, but had been sitting a long time. All valves and lines are fine. Could there be too much air in it? Will filling it solve the problem, or should it be hooked to a vacuum pump to get rid of the air? Hate to put a bunch of LP in it, then have to take it out.

Are you running thru the tractor LP Filter when you are running it off the forklift tank? Possibly a clogged filter? That would be my first guess. Is there any possibility of a mud dauber nest in the tractor lines? Or some other obstruction?
By the way on my '65 M670-LP it had a about 8 inch piece of rubber flexable hose [factory made hose like hyd. hose] on the input to the filter and it ran within 4-6 in. of the back end of the exhaust manafold. one day I had the tractor running on vapor and was off the tractor and it decided to rupture (over 50 years old) and spray LP vapor on the warm exhaust manafold. Things were getting very warm when I got the valve shut on the other side of the tractor. Scorched the hairs on my arms. I made a heat shield and also wrapped the new flex hose in alum. foil.

LP is heavier than air, so if you can bleed a little vapor from top of tank, that takes care of any air quite readily. The tank fittings, if original, should have "excess flow valve" that will close in case of a ruptured line. Possibly this valve is stuck closed. Remove line from tank valve and open the valve to check for what should obviously look like a good flow. Tractor should run quite well on any amount of fuel.

Thanks- should have known that. I"ll shove some more LP in it tonight, and bleed it some.

I cleaned and blew out all the lines (all copper), cleaned the filter housing and installed a new filter. Originals ain't easy to find any more! The hose from the forklift tank is hooked to the "T" ahead of the filter, so I know the filter is flowing good. I'll get my forklift tank filled today, and put some more in the tractor tank. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey Toolz, sometimes I think these Minnie"s are female, just a little hard to figure out. Did you get a front axle bushing yet.

Just run it off the forklift tank, I run mine off a BBQ tank, it'll run along time as long as you're not using it on a heavy load.

Jack- I shoved some more gas in it tonight, and bled off the air, and it runs fine. I put the front end on without new bushings, but would like to replace them sometime. Don't think I'll be farming with it anyway, so it probably won't matter much. You going to be at San Jose on the 18th?

Thanks to all for the replies.

Hey Toolz, we are looking for flotation tires here on line. Can you get over creek turned river at Farmer City? We wanted to give ZB a test run
#5 but govenor still acting up. I will be there if all possible,if for nothing else but to aggravate you and Dickie and his brand X tractors.

River was up out here, but I've seen it higher. We ain't floating yet.

No brand X's for me this year- just two Modern Machinery entries, cuz I want to be just like my idol, Jack. I'm looking forward to annoying Eddie as much as possible.
