335 transmission/clutch problem

Hello,
my nephew was grading the driveway a couple weeks ago, and tractor stopped moving, no forward in any gears or reverse, sounds like something spinning in the diffential, but cannot be sure, ampli-torq in hi or low, still no movement, when the tractor is running and the clutch is out, I can slip it into first gear, tractor does not move, it will not go into the other gears, they grind like the should without depressing the clutch, I have top cover off of trans, I see the shifter forks and the gears, what should I be looking for that may be out of place? or is it something in the differential.??
help!!

Jack up one rear wheel then turn the wheel and see what is moving or not moving inside the transmission. With the tractor in gear you shouldn't be able to turn the wheel.

did that, wheel turns freely with it in any gear, when in neutral, the constant mesh gears turn, when placed in any gear and I turn the wheel, I can see where the gears want to turn, but they do not, something let loose in be the differential? I want to make an accurate diagnosis before I tear into the hydraulics and 3-point to get to the diff..looks like a project...

I had the same problem with my jet star3. Its was the plates in the torque, sheared all the ears off. You have to split the tractor to get at it.
