Grease or oil

Looks like someone has packed the fan bearings on this U full of grease, my question is should it have grease or oil?

I have done that befor. The seals were bad and did not want to tear it down. My [A] farmall has been that way for 5yrs no trouble. but I just use to mow around the barn and roads. jc

I have had a U and UB with grease in fan hub for 30 years. No problems. Book calls for oil. I remove plug and insert grease fitting and grease annually and then replace plug.
